The guide to this product

Handcrafted vanilla sugar: real vanilla beans in every spoonful

Our vanilla sugar is a handcrafted creation: organic cane sugar and whole vanilla beans from Madagascar, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, ground together. It is as simple to use as an industrial vanilla sugar and brings intense vanilla aromas to your preparations. It’s a good way to get started with vanilla, and a lovely gift idea.

01

What’s in the pouch

This sugar is made from organic cane sugar and whole vanilla beans, ground: the skin, the pulp and the seeds, with no artificial flavoring. The fine black specks you see in the sugar are the beans. It’s the same principle as our vanilla powder: the whole bean is used, and much of the aroma is found in the skin.

02

More fragrant than an ordinary vanilla sugar

In the kitchen, it is used like any industrial vanilla sugar. The difference is in the taste: it is made with real vanilla, and its ground beans bring intense vanilla aromas to your preparations. A natural bean contains more than 200 aromatic compounds, whereas synthetic vanillin, used in many commercial “vanilla”-flavored products, reproduces only one.

03

Three origins in one sugar

This sugar brings together vanillas from three countries: Madagascar, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Paul Galand sought a balance between the sweetness of organic sugar and the aromatic strength of these vanillas. Want to taste these countries one by one? We also offer beans from each of them, such as Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, indulgent and buttery, frosted vanilla from Indonesia Sulawesi, powerful and very ripe, and tahitensis vanilla from Papua New Guinea, floral and aniseed.

04

For beginners or as a gift

Simple and effective, this sugar lets you cook with real vanilla without splitting or scraping a bean. It comes in 125 g, 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg, delivered in a zip pouch like our vanillas: enough to try it in a small size or to keep a supply on hand. It’s also an easy gift for food lovers, on its own or with a vanilla gift box.

How to use it every day

Use it like a classic vanilla sugar:

  1. In pastry: to flavor your desserts and everyday bakes.
  2. In hot drinks: to give them a touch of vanilla sweetness.
  3. On plain yogurt: to sweeten and flavor it in one simple step.

To go further with whole vanilla beans, follow our guide to using a vanilla bean in pastry.

Yes. Simple and effective, it lets you cook with real vanilla without splitting or scraping a bean. It’s also an easy gift for food lovers.

Yes, with beans that have already been scraped: slip 1 to 2 empty, dried beans into a jar of 500 g of sugar, close it and let it infuse for 2 to 3 weeks, shaking from time to time. Our vanilla powder, mixed with sugar, also makes one.
